Thor: Ragnarok (Rumors)

THOR: RAGNAROK Will Reportedly Include PLANET HULK Elements

It seems like Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be something incredible. There’s a lot of rumored information that has been leaking out regarding the story, but we know for sure that Hulk and Thor will be embarking on a cosmic adventure in which they will have to battle Hela and her armies.

According to information:
The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.

These are all just rumors at the moment because the studio hasn’t officially confirmed any of it. But it sure does make for an intriguing story to tell, and it’s enough to get a fan like myself excited for the possibilities!

The more I learn about this movie, the more excited I get. I hope a lot of these rumors turn out to be true because it sure does sound like it would make for a great film and an epic adventure.

Captain America: Civil War (Concept Art)

It’s been over three weeks since Captain America: Civil War was released worldwide and based on how the box office has been, basically everyone has seen the movie at least once by now. With 12 super powered people appearing throughout, they all collided in the “splash page” airport fight. Ten of these people were characters we have met prior to Phase 3, but two of them were making their debuts in this film. Spider-Man and Black Panther have been fan favorites and scene stealers in the film, with a lot of us looking forward to seeing each of them again in their solo films.

The looks of both of these characters were nailed, and is a big reason why they were accepted so quickly. The Daily Superhero have published some photos from a recently released book, “Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War: The Art of of the Movie,” featuring the two new characters and some alternate designs for other characters as well. The concept art is in the gallery at the top of the article, and while some of it went unused, it is interesting to see the different directions Marvel was thinking about going in.

Thor: Ragnarok(News)

Jeff Goldblum joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Grandmaster, a character who first appeared in The Avengers #69. He is one of the ageless Elders of the Universe and has mastered most civilizations’ games of skill and chance. He was not originally part of the comic book Ragnarok storyline.

Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek) has been cast as Skurge, also known as The Executioner. He is an Asgardian who was originally depicted as a supervillain and long-time antagonist of Thor, sporting a magic double-bladed battle axe. In the comics, Skurge fell in love with the Enchantress and was frequently used in schemes by her and the trickster god Loki. According to Wikipedia, the character eventually joined up with the heroes of Asgard in a mission to Hel, “where he sacrificed his axe to destroy Naglfar, the ship of the dead, and delay Ragnarok, and sacrificed his life to hold the bridge at Gjallerbru so the heroes could escape the forces of Hel.”

The press release also confirms that Tessa Thompson will play Valkyrie, a classic Marvel superhero character who first appeared in The Avengers #83 (published December 1970) and has remained one of the core members of the Defenders.

Future Marvel Studio Movies To Air Exclusively On Netflix

With a monumental deal made between Disney and Netflix, as of now, all future Disney properties will be aired exclusively on netflix, when they reach the paid programming stage of distribution. This will not effect previous distribution deals (such as the MCU Movies you can currently watch on Starz), but will mean that Captain America: Civil War will air on Netflix – when the time comes.

The deal not only brings the Marvel properties to Netflix, but also brings Disney’s other powerhouse franchises at Lucasfilm and Pixar along with it. With Disney dominating at the box office, this is surely good news for Netflix, who is already enjoying the popularity of the MCU with the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and four more MCU series in varying stages of production (Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher).

As the relationship between Marvel and Disney/Marvel continues to grow, one can only hope it leads to more original content between the two powerhouses.

Black Panther (News)

After his spectacular debut in Captain America: Civil War, we’re all pretty excited for the upcoming Black Panther solo film. In an interview with The Undefeated, executive producer Nate Moore spoke a bit about the film’s shooting locations. He mentioned that the majority of the film would be shot in Atlanta, like many of Marvel’s other recent films, including the recently released Captain America: Civil War. That said, they are looking into shooting some portions of the movie in Africa to add a more authentic feel to the film.
We’ll do our stage work in Atlanta. And we’re definitely investigating shooting in Africa … both Marvel and Ryan feel that would be really good for the movie. We just haven’t drilled down on it yet.
Black Panther been in the news quite a lot right now with several casting decisions in the past few weeks. Marvel is definitely leaning hard on a diverse cast for the film with amazing talents including Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan joining Chadwick Boseman. With production set to kick off in early 2017, we can expect more casting announcements to hit over the next few months.

Thor: Ragnarok Concept Art Offers First Look At Hela

Marvel unveiled some big news regarding Thor: Ragnarok earlier today. Not only did the studio reveal some star studded casting they unveiled some concept art for the film.

In the the new look at Ragnarok, we can see our first tease of Hela. Hela is the Asgardian Goddess of Death, born in Jotunheim. In Marvel Comics, Hela is the daughter of Loki, who we know is sitting on the throne of Asgard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  It was Odin who appointed her the Goddess of Death, giving her rulership over the dead in the realms of Hel and Niffleheim.

Hela will be played by Cate Blanchett. “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet,” said Producer Kevin Feige. “The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."

Blade, Ghost Rider & Moon Knight TV Shows Happening at Netflix?

Back in May 2013, Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to four of its beloved comic book properties, Daredevil, The Punisher, Ghost Rider and Blade, after these titles held by various different studios lapsed. Just a few months later, Marvel announced that Daredevil would one of four new TV shows debuting on Netflix, followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. During this current season of Daredevil, the show introduced The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, who is getting his own Netflix spinoff as well. But we haven't heard much about the studio's plans for Ghost Rider and Blade. Today we have a new report that claims Marvel and Netflix are in fact developing TV shows for Ghost Rider and Blade, along with another Marvel character, Moon Knight.

Back in June, a report surfaced that claimed Netflix is developing a Punisher series, which was confirmed just last month, along with shows featuring Ghost Rider, Blade and The Hulk, who is played by Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Naturally, that report was never confirmed, but then in October, another rumor surfaced that Netflix is also developing a Moon Knight series. That report hinted that Marvel could introduce Moon Knight in one of their current shows, much like how they introduced The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2, before moving on to his own series.

Both Blade and Ghost Rider have been seen before on the big screen, with Wesley Snipes playing the title character in the Blade trilogy from New Line Cinema, and Nicolas Cage portraying the Ghost Rider in two movies from 20th Century Fox. There had been rumors that new movies would be developed for both of these characters, but those reports were never confirmed. If Moon Knight does happen as a TV series, it will be the first time this character has been portrayed in live action, although he has appeared in video games and animated shows.

Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, who made his Marvel comics debut in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. He went on to appear in a number of different comics before his own stand alone series was released in 1980. Born Marc Spector, Moon Knight was given superhuman strength, endurance, and reflexes after he was visited by Egyptian god Khonshu. However, his powers are either enhanced or weakened depending on the phases of the moon. He also used a number of gadgets to fight crime, which lead to the character being compared to DC's Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on these potential Netflix shows that could be streaming soon.

Captain America: Civil War (Concept Art)

One of the most fascinating bits of Captain America: Civil War is the overlaying villain, Zemo. In this movie Daniel Brühl takes on the iconic Marvel villain in a bit of a new light, changing both the origins and the look of the character. Going into the movie, one thing we all hoped to see upon news that the character would be making his way into the MCU was to see at least some tease of his comic book look, but unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance. However, thanks to some concept art allegedly from the movie, we might have our first look.

Marvel TV (News) - Most Wanted

After weeks of conflicting reports, leaving fans to wonder what would become of Marvel’s Most Wanted, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off set to star Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), the network has apparently passed on the series.
Marvel’s Most Wanted — PASSED OVER
Logline: A second spinoff from Agents of SHIELD, the drama follows the adventures of Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter.
Cast: Adrianne Palicki, Nick Blood, Delroy Lindo, Oded Fehr, Fernana Andrade
Team: W/EP Paul Zbyszewski; EP Jeffrey Bell, Jeph Loeb
Studio: ABC Studios, Marvel Television
Location: Los Angeles
After the beloved characters left Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., many assumed the show had gotten the green light from the network, but it seems that is not the case. Now we’re all left to wonder what will become of these characters now that they are off of S.H.I.E.L.D., seemingly for good. It’s possible Marvel could find a way to loop them back into the show or they could work them into another project, but that remains to be seen for now.

Marvel TV (News) - Agent Carter

Well, unfortunately, it happened. ABC has officially cancelled Marvel’s Agent Carter after two fantastic seasons. For some strange reason, people just stopped watching! I guess fans should have seen this coming. After all, they literally buried Agent Carter in Captain America: Civil War. Oh well, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will go on.

I guess there’s kind of a silver lining to this news, though, and that is that Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell is set to star in a new series for ABC called Conviction, which just got a green light for the 2017-2017 season.

The movie opened in North America with a strong $181.7 million, and after another strong international weekend with $220 million, the movie is sitting at $678.4 million worldwide, as it's expected to cross $700 million very soon, perhaps as early as tomorrow. Captain America: Civil War - Opening Day

Last night, Captain America: Civil War officially began hitting movie theaters stateside, and to the surprise of no one, managed to pull in an impressive amount of business in Thursday showings. The film opened to an estimated $25 Million last night, which is a huge increase over the $10.2 Million Captain America: The Winter Soldier pulled in on its Thursday opening back in 2014. Even more impressive? The film only falls slightly short of Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s Thursday opening last year, which raked in $27.6 Million in Thursday previews. As of right now, the film is expected to open to $200 Million this weekend.

The domestic debut is expected to take in around $200 million at 4,226 locations this weekend, marking a spectacular start to the summer box office.

Major Marvel Character Accidentally Confirmed for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

While attending an event at the Smithsonian Institute, the Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo's were talking about their upcoming Marvel film Infinity War. While talking about the movie they just happened to mention Captain Marvel. A fan jumped in and asked if they just confirmed Captain Marvel for the movie to which Russo replied, "Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character."

You can read all of the reactions to the Russo's accidental reveal here. Like I said, knowing that we are getting a Captain Marvel solo film before Infinity War comes out, it was safe to assume that she would play a part in the story. I guess it's nice to have confirmation, though!

What would it take to become a real-life superhero?

Excerpt from an Article on CNN.com

What would it take to become a real-life superhero?

(CNN)If watching "Captain America: Civil War" this weekend revives your childhood dreams of becoming a superhero, technology may be on your side to make it happen -- but science is a little more discouraging.
Technologically speaking, becoming Iron Man could be feasible by enhancing your strength through a mechanical device, especially in comparison to becoming Captain America. Modifying your makeup through gene therapy or the next generation of steroids faces more ethical challenges -- as well as scientific limitations.

Science fiction and science fact have long shared an interchangeable dialogue of inspiring each other.

"(They) provide inspiration and whimsy," said Gary May, dean of the College of Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. "We can enable ourselves to achieve what we couldn't before."

CNN spoke to experts in the field to learn the science behind a few of the superheroes featured in the next installment of the Marvel movie franchise -- and what would happen if one of their origin stories happened to you.

'Captain America: Civil War': What the critics are saying

Looks like Marvel has yet another hit on their hands...

From Article on Cnn.com

As of Thursday, Civil War had a score of 76 on Metacritic and 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics impressed by the Marvel film's clash of the heroes as well as the new faces, Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther. For comparison, "Captain America: The First Avenger" got 66 on Metacritic and The Winter Soldier got a score of 70. "First Avenger" also scored 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with "Winter Soldier" ranking in at 89 percent.

Most critics have released rave reviews, with only some on the fence who are saying the latest Marvel film gets to be too much for viewers as it adds characters to the seemingly never-ending Marvel Universe.

I plan on see it over the weekend and cant wait.
