When Marvel announced the stellar cast for Thor: Ragnarok last month, there were plenty of reasons to be excited. Not only was it finally confirmed that Cate Blanchett was a part of the cast and that she would be playing Hela, but it was also confirmed that the fantastic Tessa Thompson had been confirmed as Valkyrie. Those confirmations alone were worth celebrating, but then Marvel surprised everyone and announced that Jeff Goldblum had joined the cast as the Grandmaster. Of course, prior to this announcement the actor had teased the possibility of joining a superhero film, but his casting in Ragnarok somehow managed to slip past the trades and stay a secret until the press release hit. Something that doesn’t typically happen these days, especially when it comes to Marvel casting news. So to say fans blew up at the announcement of Goldblum’s casting would be putting it lightly.

Interestingly enough, there was a bit more Thor: Ragnarok news to hit the web today alongside Goldblum’s comments. While it was initially reported that Ragnarok would kick off production this month, it appears that the start date has been pushed back a bit to July. In a video announcement made by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Marvel Studios executive David Maisel, they confirmed that Ragnarok is set to begin production on July 4th at Village Roadshow Studios.

Magical And Trippy Doctor Strange Merchandise

Phase 3 is well underway now with Captain America: Civil War continuing to climb the ranks of box office greats. It still has a chance to catch Iron Man 3 and make it the highest grossing non-Avengers film within the MCU, but even if it doesn’t, it has already been a big success. The year as a whole for Marvel is not over yet, with them claiming the stake for the last superhero film that will be released in 2016. While no one is expecting another billion dollar outing, seeing how well Doctor Strange does in theaters will be very telling in how eager audiences are too see a weirder and magical side to the MCU.

We have already got our first trailer for the film and while that did not feature much magic aside from messing with his astral form, we have seen a few images of his powers. If you are eager to see more looks at Benedict Cumberbatch twisting his fingers, the images below is for you. Vandor Products has released images for some upcoming merchandise for the film and they feature plenty of Cumberbatch wielding his magic with trippy backgrounds around.

Back in 2014, a rumor surfaced that Legendary Pictures was developing a feature film based on Marvel's Namor the Sub-Mariner. Universal Pictures apparently owned the rights to it. Later on, Kevin Feige said that things were a bit more complicated than that.

Well, it sounds like the complications are no longer an issue because Marvel CCO Joe Quesada has indicated that the rights to the King of Atlantis are back with Marvel. During an appearance on Kevin Smith's Fat Man on Batman podcast, Quesada was asked if Namor is part of the MCU and if they had the film rights, and this was his reply: 

"I can't speak for studios...As far as I know, yeah we do. It’s not at Fox, it’s not at Sony...Yeah."

As CCO, Quesada is a pretty well-informed guy at Marvel, and this is something I believe he would have knowledge of. When asked if Namor would end up being a part of the MCU, he said:

"I cannot confirm or deny, sir."

It looks like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could be getting some Asgardian help. Director James Gunn recently took to his Instagram to post a very interesting photo of him wielding the mighty Mjolnir. We know that the film is in the final weeks of production and does the presence of the hammer mean the God of Thunder himself Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is making an appearance? We will have to wait and see, but first check out the photo!

The Villain for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Reportedly Confirmed

A couple months ago a rumor surfaced that Elizabeth Debicki’s character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be a villain named Ayesha. She has gone by several different names and forms in the comic book universe such as Her, Kismet, and Paragon. She is a cosmic being, who is mostly recognized as a blonde-goddess being, and she was created by the same group of scientists on earth that created Adam Warlock, so she has various superhuman abilities.
Now JoBlo confirms that Ayesha is in fact the villain from a separate source. The report goes on to offer some additional details on the character and what her significance is to the story, saying:

Now, the significance of Ayesha in GUARDIANS 2 and the greater MCU is rather huge, especially when you consider that she was created by The Enclave, a group of scientists dedicated to taking control of the world, starting with the creation of the perfect genetic beings, made to restart humanity. Their first version of this, called HIM, would later evolve into the character known as Adam Warlock, who escaped The Enclave. However, The Enclave made a second being, which became HER aka Ayesha, who also escapes and goes looking for HIM, who she considers to be her perfect mate to start a new perfect race.

 There’s no word on how much of that origin will factor into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but she will be the main villain in the story. I’m really curious to see what director James Gunn is planning for her. There’s no doubt she’s going to put up a solid fight with our favorite heroes. If this actually does turn out to be true, it would be the first main female villain in the MCU.

Marvel's Legion Gets Series Order at FX, Promises New Riff on X-Men World

FX has officially ordered to series Legion, its first co-production with Marvel Television, it was announced on Tuesday.

Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) headlines the series as David Haller, a longtime diagnosed schizophrenic who, after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, is confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real. Noah Hawley (Fargo) will serve as showrunner.

The Legion cast also includes Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water), Katie Aselton (The League) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar). Production on the eight-episode Season 1 begins this summer in Vancouver, with an eye on an early 2017 premiere.

THOR: RAGNAROK Will Reportedly Include PLANET HULK Elements

It seems like Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be something incredible. There’s a lot of rumored information that has been leaking out regarding the story, but we know for sure that Hulk and Thor will be embarking on a cosmic adventure in which they will have to battle Hela and her armies.

According to information:

The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.

 These are all just rumors at the moment because the studio hasn’t officially confirmed any of it. But it sure does make for an intriguing story to tell, and it’s enough to get a fan like myself excited for the possibilities!

The more I learn about this movie, the more excited I get. I hope a lot of these rumors turn out to be true because it sure does sound like it would make for a great film and an epic adventure.
