Marvel TV – Defenders (News)

The Defenders, Marvel and Netflix's equivalent of The Avengers in which the street-level heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will all join forces to fight evil, has been confirmed to be eight episodes, and in a new announcement straight from Marvel itself, a director has been announced to tackle the first two episodes of the limited series.

Marvel.com says S.J. Clarkson has been tapped to helm the first two episodes. This marks a return to the MCU for Clarkson, who has previously directed episodes of Jessica Jones. She has even more history with Netflix, having directed some of Orange is the New Black as well.
“S.J.'s take on the material is outstanding. We loved her work on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and couldn’t think of a more talented and accomplished person to helm the first two episodes of “Marvel’s The Defenders,” said Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb.

Marvel TV - Punisher (Set Photos)

Filming officially began on Marvel and Netflix’s fifth series, The Punisher, earlier this month in New York and since then, we’ve seen a decent amount of set photos. Admittedly, most of the set photos have been less than revealing, with the one exception being the photos that originally revealed Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page would be a part of the upcoming series. So it isn’t entirely surprising that the latest batch of photos are much of the same. The biggest takeaway? Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle appears to have gotten a buzzcut, much like he had during season two of Daredevil.

Marvel (News)

As you may know, Marvel Studios has released their production plans for movies and television (for the most part) through 2019. Two of their most anticipated productions are Black Panther, which has recently entered the beginning stages of production, and Netflix’s The Defenders, which is set to begin shooting shortly.

As part of early productions, movies and televisions create a ‘working title’ for the production. Usually, this is used to throw off anyone looking to search the set for clues, but thanks to sites like Comicbook.com, we can find these titles with relative ease.

The working title for Black Panther has been revealed to be ‘Motherland.’ This is an obvious nod to the fact that the movie will be mainly set in Black Panther’s motherland of Wakanda. With a cast of Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther), Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Forest Whitaker (Zuri) and Danai Gurira (Okoye), the movie will certainly be a good one, and hopefully the working title doesn’t throw off too many spoiler-searchers.

Comicbook.com also revealed the working title for The Defenders, set to premiere sometime next year on Netflix. The studio will be referring to the production as ‘Group Therapy.’ I have a feeling that the series will contain a more unorthodox form of group therapy than the working title suggests, but nonetheless, the likes of Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Charlie Cox (Daredevil/Matt Murdock), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Sigourney Weaver, and a slew of supporting cast members from each individual show will make for an amazing show.

Black Panther is set to hit theaters February 16, 2018

The Defenders will drop its entire first season sometime after March of 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy (News) - Teaser Trailer

When word hit earlier this week that the first teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had been rated, we knew we’d be seeing it soon, but even we didn’t think it would be this soon!

The day started with director James Gunn releasing the first look at the new Guardians (minus Mantis) in an extra cool teaser poster and got even better when shortly after the first teaser for the film, which will be released in March of 2017, went online.

Set to the familiar tune of Hooked On A Feeling, the trailer sees the Guardians in some brand new, alien environments, a heavily damaged Milano and focuses on a few light moments between members of the team. As usual, the first teaser for a Marvel Studios’ film doesn’t give away much in terms of plot, but it does showcase a return to the type of feel we all loved about the first film set to the nostalgic music.

So Here It Is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been like Christmas for Marvel Netflix fans, this week. With The Defenders finally standing together, Sigourney Weaver joining the cast of The Defenders, an Iron Fist trailer, and The Punisher announcing that Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page will be joining the cast.

It appears that Jon Bernthal isn’t coming down, after NYCC. In fact, new set photos from The Punisher series show the bearded anti-hero on top of a building with another man.

Marvel TV - The Defenders (News)

Sigourney Weaver Will Be the Villain in Marvel's THE DEFENDERS

Tonight at the Netflix and Marvel NYCC panel, Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, announced that Sigourney Weaver will be playing a “significant but unspecified” role in the upcoming team up series The Defenders. Or at least, Marvel’s official site is calling it unspecified, but everyone else on the planet is saying she will be the villain. I wasn’t in the room, but people who were say she was specifically announced as the villain, although no details about which villain were given.

Also at the panel, Jon Bernthal confirmed the news that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page will be in The Punisher series currently shooting, and Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones — or as you might know them, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — teamed up for the first time on stage.

Marvel TV – Iron Fist Trailer

Marvel's Iron Fist Trailer Released Online

At New York Comic Con, Marvel's Iron Fist panel generated quite a bit of excitement. Demand was so high to get into the Iron Fist panel that Marvel had to close the line for the panel nine hours before it started.

During the panel, Marvel and Netflix debuted the first trailer for the highly-anticipated series, which just recently wrapped filming.

Marvel TV - Punisher (Set Photos)

Earlier today it was revealed via set photos that Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page would be joining the cast of Marvel’s new Netflix series, The Punisher. Now, thanks to JustJared, we have an even better look at Karen Page and Frank Castle (played by Jon Bernthal) on set.

Marvel TV - Punisher (News)

With a big weekend of panels coming at New York Comic Con, Marvel is turning up the heat on the Netflix/Marvel news front. Today the “House of Ideas” announced the casting of three new characters onto The Punisher. Ben Barnes will be playing Billy Russo, the man who becomes Jigsaw. Also joining the cast are Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro and Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani.

Dinah Madani appears to be a new character altogether. Marvel describes her as “a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.” The character could draw on elements of comic characters Kathryn O’Brien or Molly Von Richtofen, both female agents who have worked on bringing in the Punisher. For now, however, the character’s role and back story are anyone’s guess.

The final major piece of information in the release is the 2017 release date. MCUExchange’s Micro scoop had guessed that a 2017 release date was likely, but it is now confirmed. That makes 2017 the first time that three Marvel shows will debut on Netflix in the same calendar year. Such a change is important, given how many shows are now backlogged for production.

It was recently revealed thanks to a leaked set photo that the much awaited Punisher series starring Jon Bernthal has begun filming. The photo revealed to us Frank Castle’s new and bearded look for the series. Now thanks to another leaked set photo via Twitter account Firstlook TV & Film, we know that a major character from Daredevil is included in the series: the unruly Karen Page.

With NYCC beginning today officially, we can probably expect more Marvel Netflix-related news very soon including a full Punisher cast announcement.

Now that you have started to think of leaving your couch after the Luke Cage binge, it’s time for Marvel to make some more shows for Netflix. While the heroes of Marvel on Netflix are moving on to The Defenders, one anti-hero is moving on to his own show, with The Punisher.

Today, the first set photos of Jon Bernthal on the set of The Punisher were released by Just Jared. For those that have watched the first four episodes of Luke Cage, you may be wondering if Frank Castle is trying to imitate the bulletproof hero’s look, with a fluffy beard and hoodie of his own.

The working title for the upcoming The Punisher series on Netflix - Crime. Frank Castle is officially back and better than ever.

The Punisher, played by John Bernthal, was first introduced into the dark and gritty Marvel / Netflix world in season 2 of Daredevil, in which he took fans of the popular vigilante character by storm. In fact, Frank Castle stole the spotlight, enough so that he managed to land his own solo series.

Details concerning The Punisher Netflix series have been kept mysteriously under wraps. We do know that Ben Barnes has joined the cast, and some have guessed that the British actor will play Bobby Saint, a dirty mob boss with a penchant for dealing illegal weapons.
