Marvel TV – New Warriros

With the announcement of the New Warriors show coming to Freeform, fans have been busy speculating which lineup of the team we might see for the show. We already knew that Squirrel Girl would be leading the team, but now thanks to a press release from Marvel, we can confirm the complete team line-up:

Marvel’s release offers descriptions of the new line-up, which you can check out below:

Doreen Green (Squirrel Girl) Superpower: “The powers of a squirrel, the powers of a girl” (is acrobatic, strong, can fight, can talk to squirrels)
Doreen is a totally empowered fangirl. She is a natural leader—confident and tough, but not innocent. Doreen is bouncy and energetic and her greatest quality is her optimism… She has faith in others and inspires people to believe in themselves. She also takes her pet squirrel, Tippy Toe, everywhere.

Craig Hollis (Mister Immortal) Superpower: Cannot die. Ever. Maybe. So he says.
The team troublemaker and lothario… Craig is kind of like “The Most Interesting Man Alive,” except he’s more cocky than confident and at times, charmingly grumpy. Although Craig’s superpower seems amazing, he hasn’t made use of it at all—he’s lazy and figures if he has all the time in the world to learn how to fight, what’s the rush?

Dwayne Taylor (Night Thrasher) Superpower: None
Dwayne is a local celebrity “hero” with his very own YouTube channel. Brilliant, strong, noble, and maybe a bit full of himself, Dwayne is a shameless self-promoter and entrepreneur. But he also deeply believes in justice — at least his version of it. Dwayne hides the fact that he comes from a really rich family because he’s afraid he’ll lose his street cred.

Robbie Baldwin (Speedball) Superpower: Can launch kinetic balls of energy
Robbie grew up watching Quinjets take off from Avengers Tower and loves the idea of being a hero. He’s an impulsive and immature people-pleaser with a misplaced sense of confidence. Although you would think throwing kinetic balls of energy would be awesome and effective – his are completely out of control.

Zack Smith (Microbe) Superpower: Can talk to germs
Zack is a shy hypochondriac whose ability nearly makes him a telepath — the germs tell him where you’ve been, what you ate and who you hung out with. It’s impossible to keep secrets around him. He’s a big sweet guy the team takes under their wing, and they help him find and grow his own confidence.

Deborah Fields (Debrii) Superpower: Low level telekinetic; trickster
Deborah is proud, funny and quick witted. Confidently out as a lesbian, Deborah has experienced deep loss in her personal life as a direct result of super “heroics.” She can take care of herself, or at least says she can. She’s the one who calls people on their BS and has no fear of putting her opinions out there.

Marvel TV – Luke Cage

In a move that has caught nearly everyone off guard, it seems that production as officially begun on the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage. Last night, the following tweet revealed that filming had begun in Port Washington, NY:

You may recall that Season One of Luke Cage filmed under the working title “Tiara” and it seems that Season Two will be doing the same!

A second tweet revealed what may be another location in nearby Yonkers, NY. While this one isn’t quite as clear, it is possible that it is also Luke Cage-related.

Marvel TV – Punisher

It only seemed like yesterday that the first set photos of The Punisher featuring a scruffy Frank Castle and distressed Karen Page surfaced back in the final days of October of last year. Little was so known at that time. Deborah Ann Woll hadn’t been confirmed as a series regular and we had no idea who the villain was. Fast forward to this second week of April where we finally know who’s in it and a vague idea of what the show could be, we get confirmation that the production has wrapped. The confirmation comes from the social media accounts of some cast and crew members who were all out celebrating the wrap party, all compiled by Twitter fan account Jon Bernthal Source.

This bit of news comes a few weeks after the Defenders wrapped. The timetable of these two shows wrapping is interesting. Both started almost at the same time back in October and wrapped a few weeks from each other. Last week, This means that the Defenders got more time to prepare for each episode than the rest of the shows, not to say that the 13-episodes shows are having it worse. With the finite amount of time the production is given, it’s amazing how great most of these shows turn out. It’s a testament to the quality of creatives these shows have behind them.

Punisher will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2017
