Kevin Feige Talks About DOCTOR STRANGE's Powers, Confirms Which Infinity Stone Will Appear

A lot of information about Doctor Strange has come out over the past couple of days, as Disney and Marvel try to keep fans interested in the MCU while Star Wars dominates the cultural discussion.

Kevin Feige, who spoke with EW about the powers of the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the upcoming film:
“He can do a whole host of things, eventually,” explains Feige, who is also the producer of Doctor Strange. “He does cast spells, which in the comics have very sort of tongue-twisty fun names. We don’t want to shy away from that, because that’s what makes Doctor Strange Doctor Strange. He has a Cloak of Levitation that allows him to fly, but he doesn’t fly like Superman or like Thor. It’s almost got a consciousness of its own, this cloak, which, again, gives us a superhero with a red cape — which we’ve seen a few times — but allows us to do it in a wholly unique and wholly original way. He can create these mandalas of light that he can use as shields and he can use as sort of weapons. He can create portalas that will open before your eyes that he can step through and go to other places around the world. And frankly, even in this film, we’ll only touch upon what a lot of his powers are.”
“The Cloak of Levitation [and] the Eye of Agamotto are his two signature pieces,” says Feige. “In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, ‘screw around with time’ — which is part of our story.”

That seems like the Eye of Agamotto is a lock for the Time stone, which will leave the Soul stone as the only remaining stone that hasn't been accounted for in the MCU thus far.

First Look At Benedict Cumberbatch As Doctor Strange

The cover to the latest Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first officialy look at Benedict Cumberbatch in costume as Doctor Strange.
According to the reveal article, Cumberbatch hasn’t been in costume very often on set just yet. Filming only began in November, and isn’t set to wrap until March, so Cumberbatch took the photo shoot as an opportunity to practice Strange’s signature, arcane hand gestures.

Captain America: Civil War (News)

Captain America: Civil War is going to be one of the biggest movie events of 2016. It's going to take the MCU to a new level, and it will raise the stakes for our favorite heroes, not only in this film but in the films to come.

In Captain America: Civil War, they are either for or against the Sokovia Accords, which state that the heroes "shall no longer operate freely or unregulated, but instead operate under the rules, ordinances and governances of the afore mentioned United Nations panel, acting only when and if the panel deems it appropriate and/or necessary."

In an interview with Sina Entertainment while talking with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and they simply asked if Vision plays a big role in the film, and this was the writer/directors' response:
"Vision is a captivating character, and he does play a critical role in the Civil War. The comic fans might be able to guess what he is going to do."

The Vision's role in the Civil War comic arc. Vision rebelled against what the government was doing and ended up on team Captain America. He also played an important part in the climatic battle against Iron Man and his team. However, in the film, Vision sides with Iron Man. I'm not sure why they did this other than the fact that Jarvis' A.I. is a part of Vision.

The Vision probably won't stay on Iron Man's side in the film. I think he'll end up helping Captain America. What I think the Russos are referring to in their comment is the part in the comic where Vision uses his powers to disable Iron Man's armor during the final battle. This gives Captain America the opportunity to beat the living shit out of Tony, which he does!

Doctor Strange Behind-The-Scenes Photo Released

Doctor Strange Behind-The-Scenes Photo Released

Eagle-eyed readers may notice a couple interesting items in the top left corner of the photo. The wall is inscribed with the Seal of the Vishanti, a mystical ward that protects a place from supernatural invaders. It is most recognizable from being on the window of Stephen Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, though the monastic nature of the set suggests this may actually be the Ancient One’s temple.
Just under the Seal is an eye shaped sculpture, very possibly the Eye of Agamotto, a mystical artifact often used by Doctor Strange to see through illusion and disguise.

Avengers: Infinity War (News)

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe know that the two-part Avengers: Infinity War is going to be the culmination of everything that Marvel Studios has been doing since the first Iron Man came out in 2008. We know it's going to feature a massive battle against Thanos, but the thing no one is really 100% sure about yet is who, exactly, Thanos is going to be fighting.

But it turns out even the directors of the mega-blockbuster don't know if that's going to happen.

Anthony Russo comments:

When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel’s most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, Spider-Man (whose rights were held by Sony) became possible!

Is this what Benedict Cumberbatch will look like once he's mastered the mystic arts as Doctor Strange? It'll probably be something close to this, at least.
