Marvel Releases New Doctor Strange Image For Comic Con

Marvel has just released a new image of Doctor Strange that they will be handing out in poster form at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The image, created by artist Ryan Meinerding, shows star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange wielding his mystic power, the image debuted at Entertainment Weekly.

Marvel Studios has released (via EW) a new piece of concept art, illustrated by Andy Park, for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It features (from left to right): Drax striking a powerful pose, a baby-sized Groot perched on the Destroyer's shoulder, Yondu in mid-air clutching his Yaka Arrow, Star-Lord front-and-center wearing some sort of jetpack, Rocket soaring in the air with an explosion coming from behind him, Mantis revealing herself for the first time, Nebula striking a mechanical pose, and Gamora with her sword drawn.

Avengers Academy Players Could Win a Trip to Spider-Man: Homecoming Premiere

Following the game’s recent Civil War storyline, Marvel and TinyCo have announced a new game update has been published which will feature Marvel’s friendliest vigilante, Spider-Man. Swinging into Avengers Academy, the update will also automatically give players a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Spider-Man: Homecoming’s premiere next year. To enter, all fans have to do is simply download the game and play in the Spider-Man event. Really, that's it.

In their joint press release, Marvel and TinyCo published a description for the app’s update which can be read fully below:

“After winning the high school science fair with an experiment that impressed Tony Stark during last month’s Civil War update, Peter Parker found himself as an intern at the prestigious Stark Industries. Under the guidance of Tony, Peter secretly hones his powers as the Amazing Spider-Man while learning everything he can from the Avengers Academy and his fellow powerful peers. Young, ambitious, and extremely quick-witted (perhaps too much so for his own good), Peter’s personal journey only continues to grow in this brand new update for MARVEL Avengers Academy."

Avengers Academy, which sets the Marvel Universe in a fanfic-esque High School AU, has been beyond popular on both Apple’s App Store and Android’s Google Play. So, for fans who’re wanting a break from Pokemon Go’s 24/7 pull, now might be the perfect time for gamers to peruse one of Marvel’s best mobile games to-date. At the very least, you might just win the app's golden ticket to Spider-Man: Homecoming's premiere next summer!

After more than 50 years in comic books and 15 years on the silver screen, Marvel's X-Men are heading to TV with longtime X-Men director Bryan Singer, but it's likely to be from a perspective we haven't seen yet.

FOX has ordered a pilot for a new drama series with the full roster of X-Men characters available to Singer and the other producers. There isn't a title, but we do know what the show will be about.
According to Marvel, the pilot "will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive."

The minds behind the series are the same who have guided the X-Men film franchise since it launched with X-Men (2000). Singer has directed four entries in the series (including the first two), producer Lauren Shuler Donner spearheaded the drive to get the mutant team on screen in the first place and producer Simon Kinsberg has been with the franchise since X-Men: The The Last Stand (2006), which he co-wrote with screenwriter Zak Penn.

Singer is also no stranger to television. He was an executive producer on the FOX drama House. And this isn't the first time FOX has turned to Marvel. In 1996, the network produced an adaptation of Generation X, about a team of teenage mutants.

With filming in full swing in Atlanta, we have been getting glimpses from the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming weekly. If you’ll recall, the day production officially kicked off, we got our first look at Spidey himself, Tom Holland, on set, and those photos were quickly followed up by photos of the supporting cast. Shortly after that, we then got our first look at Holland in the suit – which isn’t completely CGI this time around – only to have the actor himself give us our best look at the web-slinger in a spectacular selfie this past Friday. Now today, Twitter user @AboutTomHolland posted some pictures that show the Spidey in full costume. However, it is worth noting this appears to be the stunt-double and not Holland.

'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Is One Year Away And Tom Holland Took A Spectacular Selfie To Celebrate

We’re exactly one year out from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and with the film currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia, we’ve already got a look at some of the cast members that are a part of the ever-growing cast – including decent set photos of Tom Holland sporting the Spider-Man suit quite recently. However, although it may seem that we’ve been hearing a lot concerning the film, there’s still plenty we don’t know about the movie – mainly who the heck most of the cast members are playing. Yet, unlike most of their projects, Marvel (along with Sony) has surprisingly allowed most of the cast to be open on social media* regarding the production. Perhaps the best proof of this? The selfie Holland today of him in costume on set.

‘Doctor Strange’ Villain Revealed: Learn More About Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius

Marvel unveiled the first Doctor Strange trailer months ago, but much of the film still remains shrouded in mystery. Like the villain. We know he’s played by Mads Mikkelsen, and we got a quick peek at him in the trailer. If you’ve seen some of the paparazzi shots, you may know he’s got some weird stuff going on around his eyes. If you’ve been paying attention to Marvel toy releases, you might have learned that his name is Kaecilius. But who is he, exactly?

A new Marvel comic has the answer to that question and more. Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius plays a prominent role in a Doctor Strange prequel comic set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and among other things it reveals a bit of his history with other characters in the movie like Wong (Benedict Wong) and the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). 

It’s clear that something happens to turn Kaecilius against his former allies, although Kaecilius himself probably wouldn’t see himself as having “gone bad,” exactly. While executive producer Stephen Broussard has previously confirmed that Mikkelsen is playing the “main villain,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said his character thinks he’s doing the right thing.
