Marvel and ABCStudios Developing 'New Warriros' As A Vehicle for .... Squirrel Girl

In what is both surprising and slightly confusing news, it appears that Marvel TV and ABC studios are at work on developing one of their more obscure IPs to introduce one of their most unique characters. A report to TVLine suggests that a New Warriors series is being shopped to cable networks and streaming services and that the focus of the show will be on Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl.

The New Warriors, a group of teen heroes added to the Marvel catalog in 1989, is, like Squirrel Girl, sadly a lesser known IP for Marvel. Most well-known for their role in the inciting moment of Marvel’s Civil Warcomic arc, the New Warriors, much like the Avengers, has been composed of a rotating roster of super-powered teens who broke away from the sidekick stereotype and formed their own team of heroes.

While this series won’t likely air in 2016, Marvel TV may have it ready for screen sometime in 2017. We will update you on this developing story as it comes available. As of now, Marvel has yet to comment on the potential series.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR DVD & Blu-Ray

In a few weeks, Captain America: Civil War will be available on Blu-ray, and we’ll all be able to watch our favorite scenes as often as we want in the comfort of our own home. If you missed seeing Civil War in theaters, this has been a long wait. You should also know that there are spoilers for the film ahead. Of course, with any DVD release, there is the added excitement of the special features, giving us a little bit more of the film that we have already enjoyed.

There will be more than 60 minutes of bonus features on the Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray. According to Stitch Kingdom, those bonus features will include more than just a few deleted scenes and a gag reel. But as far as deleted scenes go, there are over five minutes of Peggy Carter’s funeral included.

Rumor has it that Odin will be somewhat of a vagabond in the third Thor installment, and if these pictures are any indication, I’d say that idea is on point.

Thor: Ragnarok (Set Photos)

Over the weekend some photos from the set of Thor: Ragnarok surfaced online featuring Thor and Loki walking around the streets of New York City. As you will see, they aren't wearing their Asgardian threads.

In one of those photos, Thor is holding a business card. That card reads, "177A Bleecker Street." If you are familiar with the comics, you'll know that is the address of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in Greenwich Village, New York. So it seems as if Loki and Thor are in New York looking for Doctor Strange for some help!

Marvel Television will be bringing the fan-favorite and ground breaking comic book series, RUNAWAYS, to popular streaming service, Hulu.
 
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? "Marvel's Runaways" is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe--their parents. 
 
"We've known the Runaways' story would make great television," said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, "and being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie--who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience--write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable."

"I'm a long-time fan of Runaways and couldn't be more excited to bring Brian and Adrian’s characters to life," said Schwartz.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Poster

With filming for Spider-Man: Homecoming well underway and a release date less than a year away, today we’re getting our first look at a poster for the film, sort of.

Thanks to an Instagram user, we now have the first look at an official poster for the movie, and it looks great. The poster was apparently on display at a trade show in Las Vegas, so it’s unclear if Marvel will use this same design in future promos for the movie.

Marvel TV - Luck Cage Trailer

Marvel has released a new full trailer for their upcoming Netflix series Luke Cage, and this character is an indestructible badass! Marvel has done such an incredible job with these superhero series. Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones turned out to be awesome, dark, and intense, and it looks like they are bringing that awesomeness to Luke Cage as he is out protecting the streets of Harlem.

One of the cool things about the trailer is that it gives us a tease of the origin of Luke Cage, and there's a shot of him wearing metal head and wrist bands.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

The cast of the series also includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson returns as Claire Temple.

The full 13 episode season of Marvel’s Luke Cage will be released on September 30th on Netflix.

Marvel has released the first promo spot for Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange. The spot is part of a cross-promotion with Cinemark XD Extreme Digital Cinema. It looks like there are a couple of brief new shots from the film in the spot.

Although we’re four months out from the release of Marvel’s next blockbuster, Doctor Strange, the first promotional spot for the film has already made its way online. The spot, which you can view below, appears to be an advertisement for Cinemark XD. The spot itself doesn’t feature any new footage outside of what we’ve already seen in the film’s first two trailers, but it’s still exciting to see the marketing officially kicking off for Doctor Strange.

Check Out Some Trippy New DOCTOR STRANGE Promotional Art From This Licensed Calendar

Every now and again, if you take the time to look on sites such as Entertainment Earth and Amazon, chances are you’ll stumble across something that hasn’t been formally announced. Such is the case with the latest batch of promo images that the folks over at Comic Book Movie found while browsing online – on Amazon, more specifically. The images come from a yet to be released calendar that show the film’s star, Benedict Cumberbatch, in various trippy images, teasing a greater influence from the comics.

With the film set to hit movie theaters on November 4th, it’s more than likely we’ll continue to see more items like this make their way online.
