Captain America: Civil War (News)

Though he hasn’t been spotted on set (somehow), the writers of the new Spider-Man solo movie confirm that Holland has already filmed his cameo. In an interview with Vulture about their new film, Vacation (and Chris Hemsworth’s, um, package), John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein revealed that they’re heading over to Marvel this weekend to check out the footage of Holland’s cameo in Captain America: Civil War. Goldstein said they’ve heard “good things,” and adds, “We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting.”
We may very well have already gotten a small glimpse at Spider-Man’s new suit via a mysterious Twitter account bearing the name of the Russo brothers — Joe and Anthony Russo, who are directing Civil War. Although Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn tweeted a denial that the account is affiliated with Marvel or the Russos in any way, the director deleted the tweet soon after, further fueling speculation.
It’s unclear just how big Spidey’s cameo is in Civil War, though given the hard work Marvel put into cutting a deal with Sony to collaborate on the future of the character, I imagine we’ll get more than just a quick pop-in.

Captain America: Civil War (News)

As you know, Marvel loves to tease their upcoming films in the movies that they make. The most recent example of this is Ant-Man's connection to Captain America: Civil War. Then in turn we can expect to see Captain America: Civil War tease other Marvel films, and according to Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif in the MCU, one of those will be Thor: Ragnarok.
While talking to the L.A. Times about Sif's role in the Thor: Ragnarok she said,
"Marvel, I think on purpose, they don’t tell me certain things. Because they know I’ll be like, 'So here's what's gonna happen.' But I do know I will be in Thor 3 and that Sif will have a very pivotal part in that movie. I just can’t tell you what because I’ll get shot. "

Then when asked it she was excited to see the hints of the next Thor film in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she made a brief mention, that we'll also see that in Civil War saying:
"There’s a lot of great stuff they’ve peppered in through Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Avengers [and] Captain [America: Civil War] will have some stuff. There's just all kind of Easter eggs and hints, if you’re really paying attention. They’re so good at interweaving everything throughout those films.”

Captain America: Civil War (News)

We still aren't exactly 100% sure who Martin Freeman is playing in Captain America: Civil War, but the last rumor we heard was that he's playing a character named Edward Chase, who is the MCU's Prime Minister of England.

In a recent interview with BadTaste. It, Freeman doesn't reveal who he'll be playing, but he does provide a little new information on the character, and it doesn't sound like the Prime Minister type. Here's what he said:
“He works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another. It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad. I like that area that isn’t black or white, I like the grays, because I think there’s just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line.”

Doctor Strange (News)

In late May, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that British actress Tilda Swinton (Constantine, Snowpiercer) was in talks to take on a gender-bending role as The Ancient One in Scott Derrickson's upcoming Doctor Strange. Today, in an interview with Hypable, Swinton confirmed she has indeed joined the film

Marvel Rumors

Marvel and Fox May Bring The X-Men to the MCU

Here's a Fourth of July bombshell: the podcast Pete's Basement is reporting that Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox are in early talks to join forces for a film that would bring the X-Men and Avengers together, targeting 2020 as a release date. This is a rumor and should definitely be consumed with a big heaping scoop of salt, but it makes a lot of sense.

Historically, Marvel's film rights are among the densest, most convoluted in Hollywood. But after decades of development at over a dozen studios, the rights have coalesced into three camps: Sony (Spider-Man), Fox (X-Men & Fantastic Four), and Marvel (everything else). Earlier this year, Marvel and Sony reached a historic deal to bring Spidey into the MCU. Though we haven't seen the fruits of that deal yet, both Marvel and Fox have an uncertain future with their superhero franchises. It makes sense that both parties would want to sit down at the table and discuss their future together.
